Coffee Worth The Price
|
4 Reasons to pay more for organic java. Have you ever debated the merits of switching to organic coffee but were turned off by the price?
According to Organic Gardening Magazine, March/April 2000 issue
the lowest priced java is not always the best - for you or the planet.
Here are four reasons why you should consider changing to an organic
variety today.
|
1) Organically grown coffee means more songbirds.
Because most organic farms use shade trees to mimic coffee's natural
growing environment, our avian friends are provided with a protective
habitat. Typical chemical-using coffee farms eliminate the natural
shade-tree canopy.
2) You can start the day with a clear conscience.
Conventionally grown coffee is one of the most toxic crops on earth.
In fact, many farmers still use the insecticide DDT on coffee trees
around the world. (DDT is banned in the USA but is still in use
in South America and many other areas)
3) The money goes to farmers trying to earn a living.
Much of the organic coffee on the market today is grown by small
family farmers who are trying their best to earn a living and make
the world a better place.
4) It tastes good. Organic coffee choices are growing every
year, and with organic farming the emphasis is on quality.
